The Timberline Difference
Timberline Panel Company, LLC.
Experience:
Led by company owner Tom Harrison, Timberline Panel Company – a Manufacturing Member of the Structural Insulated Panel Association - is setting the industry standard for quality control, efficient production, and customer responsiveness. Tom has been involved in the SIP industry almost from its beginning. The insulation value of the SIPs, combined with the ease of installation, made a believer out of Tom long before SIPs became a widely accepted building alternative to conventional construction, and he has since become a driving force behind the industry’s expanding market. Click here for Tom's Bio. Timberline Panels has streamlined the process for SIP application in residential and light commercial structures. Our employees have extensive experience working with SIPs both as an independent building system and as a complementary system alongside timber framing, laminated beams, or steel. This hands-on experience, combined with a business culture that fosters the spirit of innovation, provides Timberline with its unique ability to offer the best products, services, and support available. Tom’s obsession with quality and attention to detail resonates through our entire team.
State of the art manufacturing:
Timberline Panels utilizes a state-of-the-art, 85’x300’ production facility for all our manufacturing. We have exceptional production capacity. We have invested in advanced manufacturing machinery and customized the panel-making process to maximize efficiency and precision. Our modified assembly-line layout reduces material handling by 40%. We are now able to manufacture and pre-fabricate the SIPs for a typical 2500 SF home in a matter of hours.
Proper code approvals:
SIPs provide excellent structural integrity. They are far superior in shear and racking than conventional stick-building and wrap-and-strap. Without the proper code approvals, however, an engineer cannot take full advantage of the strength provided by the SIP when reviewing and stamping a set of given house plans. At Timberline Panels, we know that by taking the time to get accurate and up-to-date code approvals our clients can take full advantage of the strength and flexibility inherent in our SIPs. This saves significant time and money, as we avoid having to build in superfluous materials like LVLs and additional lumber for reinforcement.
8x24 SIPs:
Timberline has the capacity to manufacture 8’x24’ SIPs. In a nutshell, this means we can manufacture more square feet of panels faster than companies who don’t have this capacity. The added efficiency means quicker manufacturing and easier installation, which translates to less cost. In addition, the 8’x24’ SIP has increased structural capabilities over smaller SIPs.
Timberline SIPs are a cut above even the other SIP companies who can cut 8’x24’ panels. Our sheets of EPS are 4’x24’, which means there is only one EPS ‘joint’ within the 8’x24’ SIP. For the select few companies that do have 8’x24’ SIP capacity, the typical process is to use sheets of 4’x8’ EPS, which translates to 6 joints. Not only is the Timberline process much more efficient, but there is much less potential for voids within the SIP when there is only one seam.
Proper Seal:
The stated R-value of your SIPs may be significantly compromised if the seams between them aren't sealed properly. And without a proper seal you might be inviting long term moisture and rot issues into your home.
When not properly sealed, warm moist interior air can escape into roof SIPs, become trapped, and condense when it comes into contact with cold exterior air. This condensation can lead to mold and mildew growth in the SIPs, as well as rot. Sealing the interior joints between wall and roof SIPs, as well as the seams between the roof SIPs, will drastically reduce potential for moisture collection. Timberline believes strongly enough in proper sealing that we make it a standard on all panel seams, even wall seams.
Timberline uses a unique vulcanized butyl rubber adhesive that is ideal as an interior seam sealant for SIP construction and prevents moist air from penetrating the seams between panels and along roof lines. Rest assured that your Rs are working for you and there will be no moisture issues to worry about. Ever.
Premium oriented strand board (OSB):
All OSB is not made alike. Saving a few pennies on an inferior raw material can compromise the long term integrity of a home. This is why Timberline uses nothing but premium OSB in all our SIPs.
-Timberline OSB is extremely moisture resistant. The advanced water-resistant adhesive system creates a strong, stable product. There is minimal linear expansion and thickness swell.
-Timberline OSB is dimensionally stable. The SIP resists warping, cupping, twisting, and bowing.
-Timberline OSB is strong. The substrate has excellent screw-holding capabilities and split resistance.
-Timberline OSB will not delaminate. The solid edge provides excellent machining characteristics for fastening, sawing, drilling, and routing. It has consistent fastener holding capability.
-Timberline OSB is environmentally friendly. It’s made from fast-growing, renewable species from self-regenerating forests or plantation growth trees.
Product support:
Our experience has taught us that one of the biggest indicators of a project’s success is the product support given by the SIP manufacturer. A client is not getting the best value possible without receiving both a superior product and superior service. At Timberline Panels, we understand that it is our responsibility to coordinate the SIP fabrication according to the customer’s needs. Need help translating the architect’s plans into an SIP scheme? We can do that. Looking to keep site time and waste to an absolute minimum? Take advantage of our Pre-cut SIP value package and we’ll cut all window and door openings in the SIPs before they reach your site. Wire chases? 2x lumber installation? Done and done. You can even cross off, “Find SIP installers” off your list if you want to, because we’ve got our own Timberline installation crews. Of course, we’ll be happy to send a supervisor to work with your own crew if that makes more sense for your project. Whatever it is regarding your SIP project, we’ve got the solution for you.
